If you are looking to improve your golf game and lower your score, the main thing you should be focusing on is improving your golf swing.
Seriously, there’s so many easy improvements you can make. Don’t worry about buying new clubs or anything like that
until you have mastered the basic fundamentals of the golf swing. There are 5 elements of a consistent golf swing that every golfer should work on.
The first is the grip. Hold the club in a grip that is comfortable for you. But the key is always grip pressure. fThe lighter the better. If your grip feels powerful, then you are most likely gripping it too tightly. Your grip will determine which way the ball curves.. But that’s a topic for another day.
The next element of your golf swing is your stance. Just like the grip, make sure you are standing in a way that is comfortable for you, with the weight on in the arches of your feet. Be sure to stand that way for every swing if you want to shoot consistently low scores.
Next is the backswing, try and be natural. And take the club back on the same line as your target.
Ok, the moment of truth… the downswing, where you actually hit the ball. This is where the ‘rubber hits the road’. Try to use your hands to start the downswing… Not your arms and shoulders. Again, if it feels powerful, then you are doing it wrong. The golf swing is about speed - not power.
If you’re struggling with your golf game, I completely understand how you feel!
It can be so frustrating watching ball after ball kick up sand as they land in the trap or make that familiar *splash* as they fall into the pond.
There are a lot of products online claiming to be able to help you improve your game. I’ve bought a whole bunch, and most of them SUCK! I don’t want to see golfers like you being suckered into wasting money on products that don’t deliver on their promises (like I was!)
That’s why I’m so excited to tell you about a golf swing lesson website I found. It goes into the golf swing steps mentioned above, but in a lot more detail.
And you can download it all as a PDF report for free.
